I do not like the people who try to find a plot behind every events they watch on TV. But what happened yesterday is at least weird.
Both Israel and USA since some months are facing the complicated issue of the Palestinian request of membership at the UN. And together with them, another actor, apparently less prominent, is facing the same problem: Hamas.
While Israel and the US have to problem to appear another time as the bad guys in front of the world, Hamas has the problem that for the first time in years it lost the chance to appear as the leading Palestinian force in the decades long struggle against Israel. For the first time al-Fatah and the PA appear as the real first line of the struggle, really able to put Israel in troubles.
Suddently, what happened yesterday changed a lot of our current scenario. By capturing two cruel Iranian spies who were ploting an horrible assassination against a respectable foreigner diplomat (A K A Saudi) the US reminded to the world who are really the bad guys. It does not matter if there are no logic reasons, at least apparently, for Iran to kill a Saudi diplomat in the US. They are bad, and they do bad things also with no reason.
At the same time, Israel concluded an incredible agreement with Hamas, even more incredible if we think that it was concluded by this Israeli government. Israel accepted to exchange 1.000 (!!!!!) Palestinian prisoners for 1 Israeli soldier, Shalit, in the hands of Hamas since 5 years. We do not need to be geopolitical analysts to understand that such an agreement is going to be a major victory for Hamas, that untill now has been outside the major political events of the last months, and that has even opposed the PA's intention to ask the UN membership. I am ready to bet that now the Media will talk about this for some days, totally forgeting the Palestinian campaign for their UN bid. It will not be neither in the second place of the news list. The second place is going to be occupied by the cruel Iranian plot and the future US retaliations.
I do not want to say that for sure all this was planned. But I am pretty sure that at least a part of the possible plot I described is true. I do not trust plots so much. But neither too many life coincidences.
